So, what were you like as a child?

“I was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, but my family moved when I was very young, and I was raised in Kentucky. I grew up on a farm, and we were very, very poor. Believe it or not, I was very heavy growing up, and in 2nd grade I weighed in at 122lbs!” Tonya remembers that among family members, she was the smallest female. Even today, the next shortest woman in her family is six feet tall, and Tonya’s a mere 5 feet 8 inches tall. Yet, it’s the voluptuous measurements that have been the ticket to Tonya’s modeling success. As a child, Tonya’s stature was the brunt of cruel jokes and comments. Tonya recalls, “I remember in 2nd grade we had a “job fair day,” and my two choices were to be an archeologist or a model when I grew up.” Tonya remembers that a girl named Amy Smith laughed at Tonya, and told her she would never be a model. Tonya remembers crying, and often feeling left out. Well, today Tonya has the last laugh, because not only is she a model, but she is the MOST FREQUENTLY printed model in the industry!!!!! How did you establish a healthy lifestyle and become a model?
Tonya remembers starting to worry about her weight while a sophomore in High School. At 175lbs, she would look at the cheerleaders and the other popular kids, and wish that could be her. “I also became interested in boys,” says Tonya. She took extreme measures to lose weight, and threatened her health, in order to get attention. “I just wouldn’t eat. Not even water. I lost so much weight. I went from 175lbs to 120lbs in a short time frame. I got too skinny, and I was going to die.” Tonya unfortunately struggled with her weight issues for many years. She would dramatically gain and lose weight, and then she finally decided to turn things around. “I wanted to live happy, and I knew that extremes were bad. I was so miserable. I always knew I wanted to be more.” At 198lbs, Tonya started to take kickboxing classes and martial arts. In the first year, Tonya lost 50lbs due to her perseverance, hard work and education regarding nutrition and physical activity. She continued to healthfully lose weight, and started to teach the kickboxing classes. She took over 1-2 classes per week, and lost another 30lbs. Her self-esteem improved so much she wanted to try modeling. So with the support of her family, Tonya traveled to California, and then on to a successful, professional modeling career.

How did you meet Rob Sims?

When Tonya decided to move to California, she started modeling as much as she could. She paid the bills by providing personal training, and started her now famous website. She did several shoots with Robert Kennedy, and, eventually, was referred to Rob Sims. Tonya said, “I was afraid to call Rob initially. I held onto his number for a year before I got the confidence to call him.” It was after Tonya won the Mrs. Kentucky Pageant and then placed in the Top 10 at the 2000 Mrs. America Pageant, that Tonya finally had enough courage to call him. She had a shoot with him, and she’s been hooked since.

“Well, my site has been running for almost two years now, and I offer a variety of glamour-type, very sexy picture sets. I recently made the decision to go topless on my site, after a year of contemplating it.” Tonya said her family is proud and supportive of her, but she hesitated to tell her mother and father.
